Great Bridge Lock Park

Virginia’s Intracoastal Waterway hosts the Great Bridge Lock Park. It is a meeting spot for the Albemarle Canal and the Chesapeake Canal with the Elizabeth River’s Southern Branch. The Corp of engineers that separates the river’s saltwater from the canal’s freshwater inspired the park’s name.

Hickory Ridge Farm

You will find the Hickory Ridge Farm in Chesapeake’s Hickory area. The ridge consists of 18 acres farm with many acres of produce available to the public at different times of the year. Visit the farm to pick strawberries if you are in the city during early June.
